This delightful French, Art Nouveau, circa 1900 griffin watch pin is 18 carat gold plated .

The griffin is a mythical beast with the head and wings of an eagle and the body and tail of a lion.

The pin measures 1 and 1/8” (2.8cms) across.

The base of the pin is a circle partly formed of a leafy stem. It flows around and ends in leaves formed in the typical Art Nouveau style. The griffin is delicately engraved and its wings and paws overlap the circle.

On the back is an old style c clip and a loop originally intended to hold a watch , However the piece could easily be used as a pendant
