This delightful, late nineteenth century, mirror slide pendant is French. It is made of 18 carat gold plated brass with enamel decoration.
The oval pendant measures 2¼” (5.8cms) long, including the top ring, by 1 and 9/16” (4cms) across. It weighs 33.8 grams.
The front has wonderful enamelling of a posy of flowers on a white background. It is surrounded by black enamel with a scalloped gold finish and tiny gold dots. This is reprised on the outer edge. Within is turquoise green enamelling with fine detailing.
At the top is a ring and a bail for a chain.
It slides sideways to reveal the mirror within edged with gold cording. The mirror is perfectly useable with slight ageing around the edges. The sides are decorated with love knots.
The back is beautifully decorated with raised swirls and garlands of flowers . It is so pretty that it could easily be worn on this side.
This beautiful and very rare piece does show some slight signs of use and the top no longer clicks into place but this does not affect the appearance in wear. All the enamel is intact. It will arrive carefully presented in a gift box.
