French Antique Napoleon 111 18K Gold Locket Charm

This exquisite 18 carat gold and seed pearl locket charm dates back to the era of Napoleon 111 circa 1860. I have kept it for over 10 years but now is the time for a new owner.

It measures 1” (2.5cms) long, including the top ring, by ½” (1.2cms). It is 5mms thick and weighs 5.6 grams.

It is delicately shaped with a pretty raised motif on the front. There is a vertical band with five tiny seed pearls. At the top is a ring and a bail .

The back is engraved with sweet motifs.

It opens easily from the side and is hinged at the base. On one side is a bevelled glass compartment, designed to carry a lock of hair or other sentimental item. On the side edge is a French eagle head hallmark for 18 carat gold. It closes firmly.

This fabulous rare and antique piece has some small signs of age as is not surprising considering it is over 150 years old. It will arrive in a gift box.
