This stunning Norwegian necklace dates to circa 1900. It is unmarked but tests to gold washed sterling silver. It bears no marks but is undoubtedly the work of a top Norwegian silversmith. My best guess is Clement Berg but I would not exclude David-Andersen.
It is 16 ¾” (42.5cms) long and the central section is 8 and 1/8” (21cms) wide. The central drop is 2 and 1/16” (5 and 3/16” ) long. The necklace weighs 17.8 grams.
The centre of the necklace is embellished with five 12mm roundels delightfully enamelled with white and dark blue. Between them are floral motifs. Below this is a chain which carries the prettiest drops enamelled in turquoise, white a blue. The central drop is larger with additional tiny drops.
There are double chains on each side of the top, joining to a single chain which ends in a ring clasp. When I first found this necklace it had a replacement brass ring clasp. I replaced it with a sterling clasp which looks fine.
The reverse is neatly finished and the gold wash is intact.
This most beautiful of necklaces is in excellent antique condition. It will arrive in a gift box.
