French Mid Victorian Silver Gilt Decorated Needle Case

This pretty, mid nineteenth century, needle case bears the boar’s head hallmark for 800-900 silver gilt quality.

It measures 3” (7.8cms) long and 12mms across the widest part. It weighs 6.8 grams so is quite substantial for its size.

The design, the same on both sides, is exquisite. Trailing down the case is a most glorious raised and engraved design of flowers and leaves. There is also a thistle head with its swirling leaves. The gilt is accented by the darker background. The sides are plain gilt.

The case opens easily to reveal a plain top and on one side is the boar’s head. There is also another on the rim.

This exceptional and very rare needle case is in fine antique condition at well over 150 years old . It will arrive in a gift box..
