Here is a pretty, gold filled, Art Nouveau pendant and chain. Both are marked ‘Fix’, a mark founded in 1823 with a secret formula for this type of 18 carat gold filled jewellery.
The French are very familiar with the concept of elegant gold filled jewellery so thick that there are hardly ever signs of wear. The designs and quality are generally so good that they are hard to tell from their solid gold counterparts.
The chain is 17½” (45cms) long. It closes with a ring clasp and an adjacent ring is marked ‘FIX’.
The pendant is 1 and 1/8” (2.9cms) long by 7/8” (2.3cms) across.
Suspended within a ring is an exquisitely engraved four leaf clover. In the centre is a twinkling , genuine ruby. Above the ring is a bow set with a genuine pearl.
An attached bail holds the chain. It is marked ‘FIX’ together with the mark of the Paris jeweller ‘Savard’. Savard invented the FIX process.
This lovely necklace is in excellent antique condition. It will arrive in a gift box.
