This very pretty , Victorian watch pin and pendant bears full English Chester hallmarks for the year 1900.
It comes in two parts - a bow top and a detachable amethyst , heart pendant.
Both parts together are approximately 1 and 1/16” (3cms) long. The bow is 1¼” (3.2ms) wide and the amethyst heart measures 12mms across the widest part. Together they weigh 3.8 grams.
The realistically formed bow is set in the centre with three diamond chips. It has a hook at the base to hold the pendant.
On the back is an old style clip. It is well marked with ‘9 375’ for 9 carat gold on both sides. There is a maker’s mark ‘W.H.C.’ for W H Collins & Co. There follow the Chester hallmarks - the three sheaves of wheat, ‘9 375’ and the date letter ‘R’ for 1900.
The heart pendant is a lovely shade of violet, faceted and open backed for maximum reflection. It has delicate, gold claws.
In fine antique condition, the elements of this very flexible piece can also be combined with other pieces of jewellery. It will arrive in a gift box.
