Here is a delightful pair of, Art Nouveau gold filled cufflinks from France. They are marked ‘Titre Fixe’, a mark founded in 1828 with a secret formula for this type of 18 carat gold filled jewellery.
The French are very familiar with the concept of elegant gold filled jewellery so thick that there are never signs of wear. The designs and quality are generally so good that they are hard to tell from their solid gold counterparts.
Bijoux Fix was created in 1828 and initially items were marked ‘Titre Fixe’ and then just ‘Fix’. So these cufflinks can be dated to circa 1895- 1900.
The fronts measure 9/16” (1.4cms) each way.
The edges are beautifully shaped, They have a raised flower and leaf design with scrolling lines typical of Art Nouveau design.
The smooth, egg shaped backs are fixed. The reverse of each is marked ‘Titre Fixe’.
These cufflinks, suitable for a man or a woman, are in excellent antique condition. They will arrive in a gift box.
French Fix items offer the opportunity of purchasing an antique, authentic piece of jewellery at a very reasonable price. I guarantee that your friends won’t know the difference between Fix and solid gold!
