This exquisite, French silver pill box dates to circa 1900-1910.
It measures 1¼” (3.2cms) across and is 3/8” (1cm) tall. It weighs 12.5 grams.
The top. in repoussé silver, has a delightful woodland scene of a goddess playing two pipes to a little faun who is dancing. Behind the goddess is a small child appearing a bit fearful. I cannot trace a reference to the myth represented but the scene is utterly charming!
Around the edge are pretty flowers and leaves leaves. The side of the box is embellished with leaves and berries and carries the crab mark for 800-900 quality silver. The base is plain silver.
The box opens on its hinge to reveal a lightly gilded interior.
This most delightful of boxes is in excellent antique condition and will arrive in a gift box.
