This late Victorian Maltese Cross Pin is mounted on sterling silver, unmarked but tested, and is inlaid with Scottish agates.
It measures 1 and 5/8” (4cms) by 1 and 1/16” (2.7cms) and weighs 7.2 grams.
The shape is angular and has four triangles. The two largest are inlaid with a most attractive burnt orange agate and the two narrower triangles are inlaid with dark green bloodstone. They have delicate chasing around them. In the centre is a shiny knob with a fluted surround, There are silver balls at each corner.
The back is plain silver with a solid old style c clip. The hinge is reinforced.
In fine antique condition with no damage, this bold and beautiful pin will arrive in a gift box.
