This most exquisite, English, Edwardian , 15 carat gold bracelet is a variation on the popular gate design.
15 Carat gold was a British standard until 1932 when it was phased out in favour of 14 carat. So when an item is marked 15 carat you know that it is an old piece and they are becoming increasingly more difficult to find. This quality was used for high end chains and bracelets, more durable than 18 carat, but with a really lovely colour.
The bracelet measures 7¾” (19.5cms) long and 5/16” (0.8cms) wide. The bracelet weighs 15.9 grams.
The bracelet has a close weave. Down the centre is a row of plain links and on either side smaller links with trios of lines. The construction means that it is very fluid and drapes beautifully on the wrist.
The bracelet closes with a push in clasp which holds firmly. There is also a safety chain. The back of the clasp is marked ‘15’ for 15 carat gold.
This really lovely, antique bracelet is in excellent condition. It will arrive carefully presented in a gift box.
