VIctorian China Fairing Boot and CatVIctorian China Fairing Boot and CatVIctorian China Fairing Boot and CatVIctorian China Fairing Boot and Cat

This cute Victorian china boot and cat is a fairing. China fairings are so named because they were given away as prizes at fairs in the Victorian era , although some were manufactured simply for sale. They first started appearing in the middle of the nineteenth century and remained popular until the start of the First World War.

This little boot measures 1and 15/16” (5cms) along the sole and it is 1 and 9/16” (4cms) tall.

The boot has a little cat or kitten resting on its front. The front of the boot is decorated with lemon coloured lustre with gold detailing on the boot and on the cat. The back of the boot is plain white.

The boot and cat are in good condition with no chips or cracks.

This adorable and unusual piece will arrive carefully presented and packed.
