These dainty Victorian earrings are unmarked but test to sterling silver. They have hooks for pierced ears. I am dating them to circa 1880.
They measure 5/8” (1.5cms) across. Together they weigh 2.5 grams.
Within a shallow well is a prettily engraved, gilded butterfly on foliage, absolutely typical of the Victorian aesthetic period. It has a delicately scalloped edge.
At the top is a ring to which a silver ball and hook are attached. These are undoubtedly newer replacements for reasons of hygiene.
The backs are plain silver.
These charming earrings in fine antique condition. I have left them as I found them with small signs of age. They will arrive in a gift box.
