This exquisite Victorian pin tests as 18 carat gold with natural turquoise and pearls. It is English and is presented in its original box.
It measures 1 and 3/8” (3.6cms) wide and 7/16” (1.1cms) across the flower motif. It weighs 5.1 grams.
The front is gently curved and set on a pierced gallery. At the centre is a floral motif set with a 5mm pearl and surrounded with turquoise petals. Either side is set with pearls. Strangely and although not immediately apparent, one side is slightly longer and set with five pearls and the other side with four. The sides are finished with fine cording.
On the reverse is an old style c clip.
The box was originally covered with dark blue velvet but the velvet has mostly worn away with traces on the base. The interior is better preserved and the pin sits on a groove on the velvet. The lid is lined with cream silk. In gold lettering is printed ‘Goldsmith & Jewellers Samuel Bowtter 282 Clapham Rd S. W.’
In excellent antique condition, this beautiful pin is sure to please. It will arrive carefully protected.
