This really beautiful , amethyst fob pendant is marked for 9 carat gold but I am unable to interpret the other marks to determine its origin. My guestimate is that it dates to circa 1900-1910. It would have originally been attached to a watch chain but these days would make a lovely pendant for a necklace or bracelet.
It measures ¾” (2cms) long. The top is ¾” (2cms) by 5/8” (1.6cms) and it weighs 6.4grams.
The mount is very decorative and unusual. There is a solid ring at the top to which are attached four, curved diamond shapes. The stone surround is attractively decorated with tiny circles and the the little claws which hold the amethyst in place. The violet amethyst is flat topped and faceted around the sides. It is open backed for maximum reflection.
On the back of one of the diamonds are the hallmarks referred to above. I can distinguish ‘375’ for 9 carat gold.
This stunning fob is in fine antique condition and will arrive in a gift box.
