This beautiful antique pendant is unmarked but tests to around circa 800 silver quality. It carries a fine, chrysoprase green agate. I am dating it to circa 1880 - 1900 and I believe it comes from Germany.
The attractively shaped pendant measures 1 and 13/16” (4.5cms), including the ring, by 1 and 7/16” (2.7cms) across the widest part. It weighs 11 grams.
Lovely images sit within the pierced and delicately beaded surround . At the top is a little cherub who appears to be dancing and holding a rosebud in each hand. Below are two silver roses with their leaves. Between them is a fine, chrysoprase agate cabochon. It is open backed and translucent. It is in wonderful contrast to the soft patina of the silver.
At the top is a ring and a bail. The back has a strong support for the front images and has darkened with age.
This stunning and very unusual piece is in fine antique condition and will arrive carefully presented in a gift box.
