This wonderful, Edwardian dress buckle is made of brass with fabulous, cloisonné enamelling.
It measures 2½” (8.8cms) by 1 and 7/8” (4.8cms).
The pierced buckle has a gently scalloped shape. Each side has lovely mottled pink roses with green leaves. The surround is pierced for maximum effect. The edges are intricately decorated and enamelled in dark blue and electric blue Beneath the enamel is fine line detailing which creates a shimmering effect. The detail is outlined in gold.
The gilded brass back has a loop fastening and two bars to hold the fabric. It is marked ‘Metal’ and ‘Gilt’.
There are some very tiny areas of enamel loss. This is hardly noticeable given the overwhelming beauty of this piece. It will arrive in a gift box.
