This delightful, lucky horseshoe compass can be worn as a pendant or charm. It dates to the late Victorian period and tests as 800-900 silver quality. I believe it is of continental European origin.
It measures 13/16” (2.1cms) across the widest part and weighs 6.9 grams.
The fully functional compass is set within a silver horseshoe complete with hobnails.
The reverse is lightly textured within the same horseshoe. At the top is a roundel with initials ‘SR’.
At the top is a ring and a bail for hanging.
The bevelled glass is all intact but under a loupe shows some signs of wear. Otherwise it is in fine condition for its age. It will arrive in a gift box.
