Here is a delicate, gold filled, circa 1900-1910,fleur de lis pin. It is marked ‘Fix’, a company founded in 1823 with a secret formula for this type of 18 carat gold filled jewellery.
The French are very familiar with the concept of elegant gold filled jewellery so thick that there are never signs of wear. The designs and quality are generally so good that they are hard to tell from their solid gold counterparts.
The pin measures 1 and 1/16” (2.7cms) by ¾” (2cms).
It weighs 2.3 grams.
The fleur de lis is the emblem of France. This one is beautifully formed and very dimensional.
On the back is an old style c clip with a maker’s mark and a straight, solid pin. In the centre is a cartouche with the inscription ‘Fix’.
This beautiful pin will complement any outfit, especially if you are a francophile! It comes to you tissue wrapped in a gift box.
