This delightful , Art Deco ring is marked ‘925’ for sterling silver. It is ornamented with a citrine gemstone and marcasites, It comes in its original box. Although it was retailed in England I am unsure about its origin, mabe Italian.
The ring fits a a US size 5 and ¾” and UK L . It weighs 3.6 grams.
The oval front measures 20mms by 14mms and the stone is 13mms by 7mms.
The citrine, set high, is delicately faceted and of a dark , amber colour but really sparkly. The surround is pierced and set with glittering marcasites. The contrast between the colours is amazingly beautiful.
On the reverse you will note that the stone is open backed for maximum reflection. The silver is smooth and marked ‘925’ inside. There is also a maker’s mark which looks like ‘HE’.
The ring comes in its original brown, leatherette box. It sits on a beige velvet base. The inside lid is marked with the jeweller’s name ‘ 'W H Sime & Son 0f Yeovil and Gillingham'.
In fine vintage condition, this lovely and very unusual ring will arrive carefully protected and presented.
