This delightful, French locket dates to the end of the 19th century. It is either gold filled or thickly gold plated. The front has a painted , ceramic plaque.
The locket measures 1 and 1/16” (4.3cms)long, including the bail, by 15/16” (2.3cms). It weighs 9.1 grams.
The image on the plaque is of a pretty , barefoot lady paddling in the water. One shoulder is bare and her lovely dress moves in the wind. She carries a blue , swirling sash. It has a corded surround and then plain gold. The back is plain gold.
At the top is a ring and a substantial bail.
It opens easily via a notch at the side. The rims are intact but there are no covers. I have left the original black paper liner on the right side.
In excellent antique condition, this exquisite piece will arrive in a gift box.
