This very pretty silver gilt pin bears English hallmarks for the year 1894.
The oval pin measures 1 and 7/8” (4.8cms) by ¾”(2cms). It weighs 4.1 grams.
The front is totally charming. On a pierced background is a very dimensional bow and an ivy leaf. The leaf has curling tendrils which is attached to one of four rings. This is all very symbolic as the ivy leaf is for remembrance.
The front is delicately engraved with lovely detailing of the bow and leaf. The sides are ornamented with tiny golden balls. The gilding is very beautiful with no wear. You could easily mistake it for solid gold.
On the back is an old style c clip. The maker’s mark ‘S Bros’ is present . You can just about distinguish the lion rampant for sterling silver but the date letter ‘U’ for 1894 and the anchor for the Birmingham assay office are both very clear.
In excellent antique condition , this wonderful pin would make a great gift for a loved one. It will arrive in a gift box.
