This 1950s Rebajes Copper Anodized Sparrow Bird Brooch Pin is a rare example of the special style of Rebajes 1950s Modernist Studio Jewelry. One of The "Messengers of Modernism" written about as well by Toni Greenbaum. Approximately 3.25" tall and 1.5" wide at its widest point, this brooch is like a piece of sculpture, dimensional in form and impact. It -- Details are all hand accomplished. The entire brooch is cut organically from a single sheet of copper, then shear cut, shaped and anodized for impact. Excellent vintage condition. It is signed with the artists well know formulaic signature on the rear bottom of the piece. Made in NYC in the late 40s or 50s. The work of Frank Rebajes is featured in my book COPPER ART JEWELRY: A Different Luster. Write with questions on how to order it.
