Here is an oil on canvas depiction of a harbor. The full moon has broken through the clouds filtering the light over the horizon. The anchored ships and structures provide silhouettes against the filtered moonlight creating a handsome tonal composition. The canvas would seem to be from the first quarter of the 20th c and is unsigned.
The canvas measures 8” by 10” to sight and 14” by 16” in the gilt, wood, composition cove frame. The paint surface is in a particularly good and stable condition. The frame shows some minor losses and some slight areas of discoloration to the inner liner which are consistent with age and use.
