Peyron-Bernard was active in the 2nd quarter of the 20th century specializing in figural and landscape subjects.
This is a drawing of the marble statue of Crouching Venus or Bathing Venus. Originally taken from a 3rd C Hellenistic find and often reproduced from the Roman Period through to the 19C.
The drawing has been double matted and measures to sight 19 ¼” by 25 ¼” and 25 ½” by 31” in the gilt, wood frame. There is a slight spot on the upper right corner otherwise the condition is very good. The frame shows some abrasions and a loss on the top left. The artist signed the drawing on the top left corner.
