This very alluring sculpture depicts a plain woman in a dress holding back her hair. She is bare foot and is standing on uneven ground. The sculpture is made of plaster with a color and wax coating. The charm is in its simplicity and the pose of the model. Gaston Beguin was born in La Lale Switzerland in the 20th century. He was a sculptor of busts and statues. He exhibited at the Salon d'Automne in 1919 and 1920. (Benezet Vol II page 33). Condition is good, there have been some repairs to the legs, and the base displays some minor chips.
Measurements are: 2" by 4 1/2" base and 13" tall.
