This Chinese carved sculpture depicts what seems like a folk tale: the man has his foot on top of a dog who looks up to the man. Both the man and the dog have one eye, which may be an accident or on purpose, I do not know. The man clearly has a left eye and the dog a right eye. The carving is extremely well done, very fine down to the teeth in the man's mouth. The man also carries a flame, which is loose and a scepter of some sort. The condition of the carving is good: there is one split in the wood on the front that seems to be natural to the wood and does not extend to the back.
Measurements are: base is 4 1/2' by 4 1/2", overall height is 14 1/2".
