According to a note by the artist, this was a backstage drawing made by the artist during a production in 1961. The dark background, strong lines and subtle shading gives this work impact.
The work measures 10” by 17” to sight and 16 ½” by 24” total with the frame. The silvered wood, mid-century frame which appears original to the work shows numerous nicks and abrasions. The work on paper, which was inspected out of the frame, is in excellent condition. The artist signature which is indistinct can be found on the lower left margin with the date of “1961”.
