This oil on board titled on the verso is the Quai (dock) Brescon in Martigues, France. This picturesque fishing village and harbor has often been the subject of artists. This work was painted by H. Damofli a French artist who was active in the area in the mid 20th Century. This well composed work with aggressive brushstrokes is in the Fauvist style where line, color and expression supersede the physical reality. The work measures 14 ¾” by 20” with the wood crème painted frame and the panel measures 10” by 16”. The artist signed and dated the work on the lower right margin. Overall the painting is in excellent stable condition room ready to hang in your home or office.
