This book is a series of three volumes. This series was published in a limited edition of 1500. This set is marked no 46. The book is one of these books that the antiquarian bookseller keeps behind the counter, because of content, and rarity. The illustrations by Franz Felix are all present and in excellent shape. Franz Felix is a well-known portrait painter and illustrator. His illustrations are vibrant and beautiful. Each book also has a beautiful Ex Libris, that looks very much like a Rockwell Kent Ex Libris, but is not signed.
The book contains eastern love stories from the past: Tales of Fez, The loves of Radha and Krishna, Amores of Mayura and Amura, Love stories and Gallant Tales from the Chinese, Ninety short tales of love and women from the Arabic, Camel boy rhythms, Love tales of Cambodia, just to mention a few.
The books are in good vintage condition, with some mild bumping to the corners and some slight yellowing. There is some small damage to the spine. The pages are rough cut and almost every page has a water mark with HL in it. You could consider these books pieces of art.
