Here is a 6.75" lithographed jointed paper doll with hand made crepe paper costumes. The doll is similar to Dennison paper dolls but is not marked. She comes with 4 home made costumes. 3 are made of crepe paper and one is made of paper with penciled stripes and tissue paper trim. Backs of the costumes are perhaps more interesting than the front. They have paper from a ledger on the backs of some and one has little cut out advertisements from old newspapers. The costumes were made for a little girl named Alice Harrison and comes with a letter to her from her friend Alice Ryder. She and "Grace" made the costumes for the doll. The girls were not allowed to visit their little sick friend so they sent her a little play mate.. Doll and costumes appear to be Edwardian / early 20th Century. They have been stored away in the embossed envelop for years and are in good condition. A charming little grouping of doll ephemera.
