Here is an 18" Kestner 143 character with fine bisque and painting , blue sleep eyes, original lid wax, fine black painted lashes on upper and lower lashes, beautifully painted brown brows, coral painted open mouth, full upper lip and 2 teeth up top.. The doll has deeply molded philtrum, chubby cheeks, even rosy blush, molded lid, prominent ears, deep chin dimple and hint of a double chin. Her head is incised."made in // 11Germany 1 // 143 " Head is free of rubs, chips or hairlines. She still has her intact plaster pate. Wig is appropriate but is probably a vintage replacement. Her body is a quality fully jointed Kestner child body stamped with a red "Germany" in red rectangle over "2". The body has good original finish with slight wear at joints. She wear an antique lawn dress trimmed with lace, matching petticoat and lawn bloomer. The dress is very nicely made and is good condition. Her shoes are old and have wear. One has lost the outer sole. She has an antique red ribbon around her waist. The Kestner 143 is a favorite with doll collectors and this one has an especially expressive face. This model dates to about 1895.
