Here is an early 19th Century primer with alphabets, wood cuts of animals, people in various activities and objects, stories and spelling or reading word lists. The wood cuts have a charming primitive quality. The book was printed by Leavitt & Co. New York around the 1830's. The book has paper cover. The edges of the pages are folded back as shown. The frontispiece/title page and 1st page have lost a piece from the upper edge and corner. The stitching is loose at the bottom of the spine and there is paper loss. The paper cover has little tears at the edges. The inside pages are still sturdy and easy to read. The book is 7.5" x 4.5". This is a scarce and early American printed child's book.
