Here is a 17" china shoulder head with cafe-au lait curly top hair style on her original brown linen body with leather arms. The doll has a beautiful face with very soft painting. She has some kiln pits on her hair and a little black firing speck under her nose tip. . The plate has a chipped corner edge front left.. Head and plate are 5" tall and 4.25" shoulder to shoulder.. The doll is on her original brown linen body with leather lower arms and leather boots.The upper arms have tape reinforcements where they meet the leather. Both boots have leather loss and the right one has taped reinforcement. Torso and upper legs are intact . Leather arms are intact. The doll wears a blue linen dress with woven white lattice design and white work at the bodice. It opens doll the back and is meant to be pinned. It is all hand stitched.Her petticoat is homespun linen with white work edge. It fastens with a milk glass button at the waist . It is all hand stitched.. Her pantaloons are matching. They open at the sides and are pinned. She has a linen hand stitched shift. Her under clothing was not removed to avoid stress on the taped limbs The doll is attributed to the Alt Beck and Gottschalck firm and is from the 1870 era.
