Here is a 19th Century hand stitched pieced Linen crib quilt in a log cabin pattern made with strips of early printed linen in madder brown and other colors. The crib quilt is bound all around with narrow band of rust linen with tiny natural & brown design. The quilt is lined on the reverse with natural , aqua, brown and rust printed linen. that goes nicely with the binding. The crib quilt is 48" x 50". There is some fabric and stitching loss as shown. Early madder dyes eat into the fabric threads. This little quilt still shows well and has a wonderful variety of early fabrics. The quilt has a thin layer of cotton batten between the pieced side and the back lining. It is loosely hand quilted . The crib quilt was found in Southern NJ.
