Here are 2 volumes C.H.Pierce and G.C Rand of Boston. The books are by E.G. Goodrich and copy righted in 1844. Both have hard covers with leather spine that has gold lettering. One book is titled History of the Indians of North and South America. It has an Introduction and 22 Chapters with 320 numbered pages. There are 3 black and white illustrations. The book retains the label of Eli Adams Book and Paper Store, Broadway Salem. There is also an old library check out schedule that was never used. . The book has a couple of folded corners and penciled notations s. It appears to be in overall good condition without tears or lost pages. Some wear to the cover and a scotched on library number on the spine. The 2nd book is The Manners, Customs and Antiquities of the Indians of North and South America. It contains a preface, nine chapters and 336 numbered pages. One page is torn out from the very back of the book. There are about 50 small black and white illustrations of Native Americans, tools, clothing, customs and buildings. Book also has the shop label and library markings that were described for the previous book. The books were purchased at a sale of the collection of a Southern NJ antique dealer. Interesting subject matter. Hard to find old books sold and used in Southern NJ.
