Here is a 19th Century wheel thrown redware spice or storage jar with pleasing ovoid shape and domed lid. The jar has incised rings round it's sloped shoulders. Jar is a utilitarian piece and shows the scars of use including a chip at the mouth rim and chips on the bottom. Jar is 10" tall with lid in place and 9" without, 3.75" across mouth, 6" through the center, 4" across te base. 3.5" across the lid and 1.5" height of lid. Jar has a solid brown glaze with reddish tones. The jar has character and presence. I see no hairlines or other damage other than described chips. Please see pictures for details.
