Here is a pair of cobbler made 19th Century flat sole shoes with ankle straps ending in attached black ribbon ties. Shoes have square toes and square tongues. They were made by N.D Wells and Company, Chicago, Illinois around the Civil War era. Shoes are 4.25" long, 1.75" across feet, 1" across insteps and 1 & 3/8" across heels. Shoes have a prim look. Shoes are appropriate for a bigger China, Papier-mache or early cloth doll. Maker's stamp on soles. Leather is sturdy. Ribbon ties are original and frail.
