Here is an appealing and scarce pink tint China shoulder head child with hard to find and desirable brown eyes. The doll has molded and black painted short curls all over his head with lots of brush strokes around his head. He has exposed and nicely molded ears, black painted arched single stroke brows, black pupils and black eye liner.Pupils have tiny white high light dots. His small closed mouth is painted red with extended corners. He has red lid lines, nose accents and eye dots. He has pale pink blushed cheeks. His pink tinting is not as rich as the Sophia Smith doll previously listed. China head and plate are 4" tall and 3.5" shoulder to shoulder. Plate has 3 sew holes front and back. I note some small peppers on plate. Nose tip has a little circle of glaze surface wear. There are 3 little wear spots on back of hair and one on left side near the front. No chips, hairlines or repairs.
Doll is on a linen body with leather lower limbs. Arms end in brown leather mitt hands with stitched fingers. Legs end in teal flat sole leather boots with teal and ecru horizontal striped stockings with teal garters above. Linen body is hard stuffed. Left arm was reinforced with stitching . Lower legs have been restitched to upper legs. Body appears to be original to the doll
Doll is dressed in antique blue wool tunic with self belt, epaulets and attached white linen collar.Tunic opens on the left front side and fastens with snaps. His matching pants have ribbon trim down the legs.He wear an old knitted under shirt.Doll appears to be a Kestner product and was produced between 1845-1850
Doll is a not often found model with brown eyes in a desirable cabinet size. He would make a wonderful companion to a 15 or 16" early China lady and goes nicely with both of the Sophia Smiths available in my store.
