The 1920's was a time when Asian and Egyptian inspired images were all the rage and this particular purse has those such attributes.
Stunning needlework with metallic and silk threads make up two different patterns. A bearded man is seated on an oriental rug amidst palm trees on the front. A lady is seated on the backside with a large fan and what appears to be a cobra snake in the left bottom corner. Finished with a striking black and white enamel frame studded with marcasites, the onyx clasp opens to reveal the peach silk lined interior.
The condition overall is very good. There is fraying to the silk lining and a bit of wear to some of the metallic threads. The seed stitching is completely intact and the bag has a lovely age patina. This rare example would be an asset to any needlework or purse collection.
Measures approximately 4.25 x 5 inches not including carry chain.
