Antique French Fashion "Poupee" with Cup and Saucer Swivel Neck
A drift of ecru and peach clouds comes to mind when I behold this lovely French lady of the mid 1800's. She is a 14 inch unmarked French Fashion on her original leather fashion body and her swivel head is attached to the bisque shoulder plate in a flat "cup and saucer" fit. The bisque is pale indicating "early" in the manufacture of bisque dolls. She has detailed ears with piercing straight through the lobe into the head. Her eyes have a slight modeling of lids above her eyes and her pale brows are widely separated. Her blue, blue eyes are almond shaped and wrap around to the side of her face like the earliest model of the Portrait Jumeau bebe. Her closed lips are outlined and have a sharp peak on each side of her upper lip. There is no damage and no repair to the bisque head. The kid fashion body is in excellent condition with only a few age spots and one missing finger that is easy to replace. Her clothing is so befitting the period with a fitted waist coat that covers the hip line and a 2-layer flowing train of silk and pleated and tufted netting--gorgeous! The 3/4 sleeves and skirt edge are trimmed in a very lightweight ecru fabric which is gathered up in the back to form a bustle. Her antique leather fashion boots are also a sign of her era. She is cabinet ready and should fit right in with your early fashions setting.
Although unmarked, as most of the French fashions were, I believe she is an E. Barrios.
