This 21-1/2 inch early open mouth R. D. French bebe is extraordinarily beautiful with huge blue paperweight eyes, a narrow open mouth with a row of upper teeth and much higher quality than the more commonly found later R. D.'s after the S.F.B.J. period. She has a smooth bisque with only a few pinpoint black specks on the underside of her chin and a few light ones on the tip of her nose, all of which go unnoticed. The doll has her original body with no broken or mended fingers. One leg joint has what looks to be a glued ball after it came loose from the lower leg. She has wonderful facial modeling and painting. The feathered dark brows and upper and lower lashes are superb. The lips are lightly tinted pink with a darker outline on both upper and lower lip. Look at those fat little cheeks that are very lightly blushed. She has pierced ears with no chips. The cork pate remains under the beautiful long curly wig and she even has the original coiled spring attachment. The antique dress she wears is made of a textured fine lightweight wool dress fabric in a pale yellow and is fully lined. The embroidered and netting lace trim in ecru color has a scalloped edge over the box pleats in the skirt. The same lace trim is used down the front inside rows of tiny gathers that give the appearance of being a jacket over a drop waist dress. I love this dress! It has an attached cotton lower slip besides the separate half slip, camisole and pantaloons, all antique with lace trims. She is wearing black leather tie front with leather sole shoes and open weave cotton socks. Her beautiful silk lined lace and silk ribbon trimmed bonnet completes her outfit.
Marks: " R 1 D " on the back of her neck.
Condition: Excellent with no chips, cracks, breaks or repairs to to the bisque head. The composition body is also in excellent condition except for the glued ball at one leg joint.
