I believe the early R.D. bebes have been under valued for years. This 15 inch closed mouth bebe with the pressed bisque marked " R 2/0 D " should prove this remark. The bisque is free of any foreign debris, marks or flaws. It is as extremely pale without brash painting that sometimes appears on the later R.D.'s. Her pierced ears have no chips. The painting of the features is superb, lips are outlined with a darker shade, multi upper and lower lashes surround her beautiful amber paperweight eyes and the characteristic chin dimple is present. The blushing is very light and evenly applied. She has what looks like her original hand tied human hair wig and cork pate. The original stringing wire is present. She is on an original early loose 8-ball composition jointed French body with straight wrists with thin pointed fingers that have nail modeling. She is wearing antique brown leather ankle strap with button closure shoes that have the toe buckle and bow and tiny short heels. She is wearing an old, possibly antique, lined wine colored silk satin dress with box pleats down the front and a dropped waist with box pleats all around the skirt. The skirt has an under layer of pleated fabric found frequently on French clothing. The straw hat with ecru cloth flowers, lace and a silk ribbon bow is the perfect topping for a magnificent array of fine apparel. The front bodice and lower sleeves are adorned in beautiful French lace. She has matching antique slip and pantaloons. They don't come any better than this!
Condition: Excellent with no chips, breaks, cracks or repairs to the bisque head. The body is excellent with only a tiny bit of wear on the fingertips and at joints.
NOTE: The basket and flowers are only props for the presentation and are not included.
