This is a beautiful 11-1/2 Inch Bald China, circa 1850's, that needs a bit of TLC, nothing major. Her perfect lovely china head has the black circle and we have given her a nice mohair antique wig. The doll is fortunate to have her original body and limbs, although the cloth upper arms are melting and need to be replaced. I have placed some paper tape over the cloth to prevent leakage. Her long slender lower arms have excellent modeling and her lower legs with molded flat black ankle boots are excellent. The shoulder plate is deep indicating that she is an early china head doll. The facial features are very dainty and she looks almost like a child. The lips are pursed tightly and the eyes are blue. The eyebrows are a dark brown and she has perfectly aligned brows. Her cheeks are blushed. The netting dress, cotton slip and lace trimmed pantaloons are original but they carry the sign of age as do most of the originally dressed dolls of this period. This beautiful lady is proud of her Red Ribbon from the Central Arkansas Doll Club competition in February 1996. The china head and shoulder plate, the china arms and legs are free from cracks, chips, breaks or repairs. The short line on the right side of the forehead was a hair from her old wig that was too far gone to even use. The hard stuffed cloth body is still in good shape except for the upper cloth arms as aforementioned.
NOTE: Since posting this doll, we found the perfect antique mohair wig for her and have added two photos to show you how she looks with that wig. We did not permanently apply it to her head so whoever purchases her will be able to inspect the head. The wig of course will be included.
