This is a nice bisque head made for the firm of George Borgfield who was a distributor in America of German made dolls. The initials "G. B." are on the back of the head. The head has an 11 inch circumference and should make a doll approximately 18 to 20 inches tall. The eyes are not in the head. The open mouth has four upper teeth, feathered brows, upper and lower painted lashes and very fine bisque with evenly blushed cheeks. The rim has a tiny split with a line descending downward 3/4 of an inch on the left back side of the head. The flaw occurred either before or during the first firing process of the head which means that it was stabilized 100 years ago and is not going anywhere. This is a beautiful head and will make a nice doll if you like to take on projects.
