I am pleased to offer this lovely miniature oil painting on board by A. Harriett Grau (1922 -1995). Still life showing colorful Hydrangeas in a flower pot. The board is 4 X 3 inches and the frame size is 4 3/4 X 3 3/4 inches. Nice antiqued gilt frame with an old style hanger on top. Good condition showing no problems. Great piece for your miniature art collection or decorate your doll house with art. Signed A. Harriett on the lower left corner.
Here is a little information about the Artist:
A. Harriett Grau, a painter and former teacher, taught art at Towson Catholic High School from the mid-1960s to the mid-1980s, then was a docent at the Walters Art Gallery. She painted in a realistic style in oils and water colors, often painting landscapes and still lifes. She had a one-woman show at the College of Notre Dame of Maryland. Her works also were shown in a regional exhibit at the Baltimore Museum of Art.She was a former president of the Three Arts Club of Homeland and a member of the Woman's Club of Roland Park, the American Association of University Women, the Baltimore Water Color Society, the Engineering Society of Baltimore, the Women's Auxiliary of the American Medical Association and the Women Educators of Baltimore County. She and her husband, Dr. E. Gordon Grau, collected antique toys, and she was a member of the Antique Toy Collectors of America.
