The base of this unique trinket/ring box is a Victorian glass salt holder. At some time a "lid" has been created for it, using silk and antique lace. The focal point is a tiny sprig of Victorian wax flowers, wrapped in pleated lace, enhanced with a bow of soft green coloured silk ribbon. There is a light scattering of rhinestones/diamantes over the top.
This is a dainty little "box". The salt base measures 2 1/4" across and stands 1" high. The lid is slightly wider than the base and its decorations stand another 1" in height.
Considering its age, it is in excellent condition. The diamantes have dimmed a little in brilliance over time and there is a bit of wear appearing under the lid, where it fits into the glass base. (This is clearly shown in the last photograph).
It is however, truly lovely, extremely feminine and would make a wonderful, if petite, statement on the dressing table or in the boudoir. I have never seen another like it before.
