This charming miniature secretary was made by a talented American artisan/hobbyist circa 1900. The wood is likely mahogany from cigar boxes, but everything is well finished and accurately realized. The desk front falls well on its hinges, the upper doors open and close, and the two larger drawers open nicely. The two smaller drawers are not meant to open. The little books are wood and are permanently fixed within the upper section. The entire piece is in very nice antique condition.
The secretary measures 7 3/4" tall (not including the pediment) x 4" x 2 1/8" deep (19.7 x 10 x 5.2 cm). It is larger than the 1/12 scale standard for modern dollhouses, but would be great for all-bisques and other small dolls.
