Well now, what do we have here? For the Demoiselle who walks a bit on the wild side... or perhaps a gift for her Gentleman suitor? Either way, this is an extremely unique and well-made miniature pistol. It does not function, and so is not a pin-fire gun. Likely, it was made as a watch fob, pendant or charm, and is of jewelry quality. I have not tested it for gold content, but it likely is, at least for the grip, with the barrel being possibly silver. There is a tiny triangular mark on the butt of the grip, which is likely a maker's mark which I cannot read. It measures only 1 3/8" long (3 cm) and features a tiny trigger. It appears to be a miniature of a flintlock pistol, based upon my research. The pistol is in excellent condition. Whether collected as a miniature gun, or as an accessory for a pampered doll, it is truly a prize.
The gun will come in an antique pasteboard box with a chromolithographed rose scrap pasted on the lid, and a padded bit of velveteen inside to rest the gun upon. The box is only 1 1/2" x 7/8" (4 x cm) and is in nice, antique condition.
