This Chippendale influenced Federal period mahogany bookcase has two doors with ten diamond shaped pattern glazed glass panels in each door. Often, glazed paneled glass is considered to be in a higher quality piece, not always, but it is true here.
The carved hairy paw feet are of high quality as is the entire cabinet. This is the real deal from 1825 - 1835. It is a much better piece that I originally thought when I purchased it. I did not look it over in detail when I bought it but I knew it was good! It is a great one!
The carving of the feet and overall form are what we expect of the better and earlier American made Federal Empire pieces.
This piece has not been worked on but it does need regluing of the back and the rails above and below the doors. There is nothing broken, just loose. This is something that happens when tall items are rolled on casters over time.
I originally priced it as it sits but have reconsidered. $800 has been added as it is now priced after all regluing, touch ups, recoating and waxing. Now priced ready to go home!
